Campaign 2000
Floyd Coates is currently a candidate for State Representative from the 69th District which includes Jefferson, Jennings counties and some of Jackson county.
Floyd's principal political philosophy leads him to generally support less intrusive government, thus yielding a lower tax burden on the already overtaxed people.
Citizens should participate in the electoral and legislative processes. We pay to governments 40 % of our earnings. We should determine how much of it is taken from us and for what purpose.
Indiana spends $5,000,000,000 per year on education. Taxpayers, parents, and teachers need to regain local control of our schools. Moral values and respect for people and property should be taught unapologetically.
Property tax is unfair. It is not equitably applied. It is complex. It is quite subject to interpretation.
It has been said, “No taxation without respiration.” Floyd agrees.
On your home:
- Tax is paid on your income.
- Tax is paid upon the building materials used in construction.
- Tax is paid twice per year for your privilege of living in your home.
- Tax is paid upon your death for the privilege of giving it to someone.
You should not have to visit the undertaker and the tax collector in the same day.
